The Food and Agriculture Organization Partnership and Liaison Office in the Republic of Korea (FAO PLO in ROK)
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Partnership and Liaison Office in the Republic of Korea (FAO PLO in ROK) was established on 13 March 2019 to recognize and strengthen the strong partnership between FAO and the Republic of Korea which began in 1949.
PLO promotes FAO’s visibility and outreach programmes in the Republic of Korea by raising awareness and engaging with all partners to address emerging challenges of world food and agriculture development, including food security and nutrition, food systems transformation, climate change, COVID-19 response and recovery, smart and digital agriculture, fisheries and forestry. PLO also aligns priorities of ROK with FAO’s programmes to support ROK’s efforts on sharing its experience, technology and expertise, and good practices with the international community and developing countries.
FAO is a specialized agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger and poverty. FAO, as the custodian of 62 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) indicators, also aims to achieve the 2030 SDGs through supporting the transformation to MORE efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agri-food systems for 4 betters; better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life, leaving no one behind. FAO has 194 member states and works in over 130 countries worldwide.
