United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Seoul Office

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency. UNFPA’s mission is to deliver a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person’s potential is fulfilled.

UNFPA opened its Seoul Office on 13 February 2019. The Office is responsible for facilitating partnerships in Korea on global population and development matters, including sexual and reproductive health and rights, population aging and low fertility, and humanitarian response.

Collaboration between UNFPA and the Republic of Korea goes back to 1974 when UNFPA helped the government in the area of population policy and planning, including rights-based family planning, population surveys and using data for sustainable development.

The office works very closely with various government ministries and institutions to further strengthen public partnerships as Korea is an important donor for UNFPA. Also, the office is promoting partnerships with the Parliament, civil society organizations, private sector, academia and various stakeholders, in order to advocate for UNFPA’s vision as the UN sexual and reproductive health agency.
