ESCAP East and North-East Asia Office co-hosted the PyeongChang 2018 Olympics & SDGs Talk Concert on 6 February 2018 in Seoul, Republic of Korea to raise public awareness of the SDGs and linkages with PyeongChang Olympics. This was done in collaboration with the PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (POCOG) and other UN offices in Korea including UNDP, UNHCR, UNICEF, OHCHR, WFP, and UN Global Compact, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea.

Speakers included Mr. Edward Kwon, Celebrity Partner and Chef, Ms. Sun-yu Jin, Ice Skating Coach at Dankook University and Olympic Short Track Speed Skating Gold Medalist, Ms. Sun-joo Lee, Head of Sustainability Management Unit and Senior Vice President of KT, Mr. Duck-hee Lee, World-Ranked Tennis Player, and Mr. Yiech Pur Biel, UNHCR High-Profile Supporter and Olympic 800m Refugee Athlete. They emphasized the importance of the SDGs, particularly Goals 2, 5, 9, 10, and 16, in connection with sport as a vehicle to achieve them. The event was attended by around 200 people including youth and officials from public and private sector.
